A man dressed as a zombie allegedly stabbed two people at a coffee shop in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday night, then fled in a pickup truck and crashed into an unoccupied robotaxi. Austin police identified the suspect as Shankar Temple Grace, 20, who was arrested after a search and booked into the Travis County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. The attack took place at The Buzz Mill, a coffee shop and bar, shortly before a local comedy show was scheduled to begin. Police responded to reports of a 'disturbance hot shot' — the classification reserved for rapidly escalating confrontations involving an immediate threat to life. First responders found one victim with life-threatening injuries and another with injuries described as non-life-threatening; both were taken to a hospital and were last reported in stable condition. A witness told police the man was in full zombie costume, his face covered in makeup, and that he had already caused a disturbance at the bar before the stabbing. Officers located Grace roughly three miles from the scene, on a walking trail. The most orderly participant in the incident was the vehicle he struck: unoccupied, unmanned, and carrying no costume of its own.
