Jay-Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show on February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The NFL confirmed the booking in a joint announcement with Roc Nation and Apple Music ahead of Monday night's game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, ending weeks of speculation. Jay-Z, 56, called it "a dream come true."
The stage is one his own company has helped program since 2019, when Roc Nation partnered with the NFL to advise on and help produce the league's entertainment. The headliners booked under the arrangement include Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd and Bad Bunny. The 2025 show, fronted by Kendrick Lamar, became the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in history and won the Emmy for outstanding music direction. The performer now stepping into the slot founded the company that fills it.
Commissioner Roger Goodell framed the booking as his own idea. "When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him," he said in a statement. The league's announcement added that anticipation over guest stars "will now kick off," noting that Jay-Z's wife, Beyoncé, "will be atop the list."
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, released his debut album Reasonable Doubt in 1996 and has won 25 Grammy awards. He was the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. The halftime booking returns him to the stadium where he closed his "Jay-Z 30" concerts over the weekend, after a two-night residency at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September — his first solo UK shows since 2013, joined by guests including Lauryn Hill, Idris Elba and Dave.
The commissioner's one request, made to a production company in 2019, has now been granted by that company's founder.
