Komanche, the Spanish streamer who co-created Squid Craft Games with AuronPlay and Rubius, has died at the age of 30, Marca reports. The Minecraft tournament he helped found grew into one of the game's biggest competition formats.

Squid Craft Games took its name and premise from the Netflix drama about a staged survival competition and rebuilt it as a Minecraft event in which streamers compete against each other. Komanche developed the format alongside AuronPlay and Rubius, two of the biggest names in Spanish-language streaming, and it grew into one of the largest competition arenas Minecraft has hosted, bringing some of the language's most-watched creators into the same world. Nothing in that rise ran through a broadcaster: no network greenlit the concept, no production company held the rights, and the tournament lived or died by whether viewers kept watching.

The industry he worked in did not exist fifteen years ago. Spanish-language streaming built its own event formats, its own stars and its own economics, without publishers as intermediaries or broadcasters as gatekeepers. The only asset is attention, and attention has to be re-earned every single day — the audience pays directly and leaves directly, with no licence-fee cushion and no distribution monopoly protecting anyone's slot. Formats that stop drawing viewers simply disappear. A television career could be built on one hit and a decade of institutional patience; a streaming career is repriced every morning, and the runway is short.

His death sent shock through the Spanish streaming world, where Squid Craft Games had become a fixture on a calendar no broadcaster ever filled. The format was built by young creators who never asked permission to program prime time.

No broadcaster commissioned Squid Craft Games and no publisher ever distributed it. Its co-creator was 30 years old.
