President Donald Trump’s social network Truth Social has begun selling speed.
According to NBC News, Trump Media and Technology Group has launched a subscription product called “Truth API” that offers paying customers alerts for new posts by Trump and other top accounts before ordinary users see them. Trump, who has about 13 million followers on the platform, has used Truth Social to announce policy moves including new tariffs and military operations, turning a private app into a de facto channel for state signalling.
The pitch is aimed at financial firms and other organisations that treat presidential statements as market data. Trump Media describes the feed as a “licensed, real-time” stream of the platform’s most “market-moving” posts, a claim that implicitly acknowledges what traders already practice: markets move on the President’s phone screen. Many firms currently obtain near-real-time copies of Trump’s posts through services that scrape and relay them, including major news and data terminals, but the company is now offering a way to be faster by “seconds or milliseconds,” a margin that matters most to automated trading.
That shift changes the informational hierarchy around presidential communication. For decades, the advantage in reacting first has been held by institutions with staff, access and distribution—press offices, wire services, and financial terminals. Truth API formalises a pay-to-prioritise lane inside the President’s preferred megaphone, where the same message can arrive at different times depending on whether a customer pays Trump’s company.
The arrangement also folds together three roles that are usually kept at arm’s length: the speaker, the platform, and the beneficiary. Trump owns a large stake in Trump Media, according to his 2025 financial disclosure cited by NBC News, while using the platform as his primary outlet during his second term. When the platform sells earlier access to his posts, it is monetising not just content but the timing of official statements—an advantage that can be converted into profit by the fastest participants.
Two Democratic senators, Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff, have asked the US Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate whether the service violates laws by selling preferential access to the President’s market-sensitive communications. Trump Media’s interim chief executive Kevin McGurn told NBC News that markets already move on Truth Social posts and framed the product as a high-margin, recurring revenue strategy built on proprietary assets.
Truth Social was launched after Trump was banned from major platforms following the January 6 Capitol attack, and later regained access to X, Facebook and Instagram. But it is Truth Social that now offers the clearest business model: turning presidential attention into a metered feed.
On Saturday, the President’s posts became a product with a faster version.
